Here we go with additional tips regarding survival measures for the current recession in Nigeria. More to come!
Reality Check
Avoid the denial syndrome by embracing the reality of the recession. It can’t be wished away. The earlier you realized and appreciated the negative impact of the development, the better equipped you are to embark on appropriate mitigating measures.
Core Skills
You should be able to identify one area where your skill sets are outstanding. This is the time to hone in on these skills, consolidate them and exploit them for possible conversion to your beneficial interest.
Improve Productivity
Get the best buck out of the bang! Work smartly and efficiently. Retrain and retool to facilitate the increase in your output per unit of input. Avoid time wasting practices and don’t engage in idle talk and gossip when you should be focused on work.
Forward Ever
Accept the recession challenge and move on. Identify with people who are positive in their disposition. Generate momentum in whatever you are doing and run with it. Don’t be lethargic. Avoid ruminating on the factors that caused the recession. That’s all water under the bridge. No measure of worry will change the situation. Your attitude can; sharpen and refocus it.
Contingency Plan
Despite the uncertainties in the operating environment, you must develop alternative plans to combat the development of unforeseen circumstances. Plan for the rainy day. Don’t wait until the horse has bolted out before you secure the barn. Keep saving for your retirement and education of the children.
Networking
They say a problem shared is a problem half solved. Don’t ostracize yourself from society nor skimp on your happiness just because of challenging circumstances. Avoid recession depression and don’t allow fear and paranoia to overwhelm you. Share your plight and circumstances with family and friends. You never know where helpful thoughts and ideas could come from.
